Social Contribution

POSCO DX seeks to promote corporate-citizenship spirit by creating a culture where all employees participate voluntarily. To this end, we are strengthening the impact of our social contribution through activities related to ESG management, activities utilizing our business and the talent donation of employees, and activities to tackle social problems in cooperation with public institutions and local communities.

Green Social Contribution

All employees at POSCO DX recognize the importance of environmental protection and ecosystem preservation and carry out carbon reduction and environmental preservation activities through talent donation.

  • Green carbon: Carbon absorbed by forests.

    Green Carbon1) for Terrestrial Ecosystems

    We signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for business cooperation with the Hallyeohaesang National Marine Park Office and cooperated with the Plant Conservation Center within the National Park Service. In this project, we cultivate nationally protected species such as Korean winter hazel and distribute them to our employees for house breeding, which will be returned to their habitat afterward.

  • Blue carbon: Carbon absorbed by marine ecosystems, such as marine organisms and mangrove forests.

    Blue Carbon2) to Restore Marine Ecosystems

    We signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korea Fisheries Resources Agency for the project called ‘Blue Carbon’. For this initiative, our employees have been transplanting algae subject to conservation, such as sea trumpet living on the east coast to coastal areas near Pohang in an effort to talent donations.

  • Creating a Disaster Prevention Forest on the Beach

    To address environmental pollution in the area near the Pohang Steel Plant, we adopted Dogu Beach in Pohang City as a “companion beach,” and since 2021, we have been working to create a disaster prevention forest that prevents sand from being blown away by strong winds along with coastal trash.

  • Upcycling Activities

    We operate a craft experience program for the elderly as an upcycling activity, which prevents environmental problems and creates jobs for Participants in the program design and repurpose recyclable industrial waste into useful props while exercising their hands and brain.

Business and Employee Talent Donations to Support the Development of IT Capabilities and Self-reliance of Future Generations

We utilize our core competencies, resources, and technologies to create social value in various fields, including the education of future generations.

  • Future Coding Expert Class

    Based on the talents of our employees in the IT/EIC field, we provide coding education to elementary school students who lack opportunities for IT education, with 51 in-house members, who hold specialized certifications in their respective fields, participating as instructors in cooperation with local government education support offices.

  • Mentoring Future Generations in AI Technology

    Since 2020, we have been holding various competitions on the theme of AI for middle and high school students nationwide. Our employees serve as mentors on AI technology, providing educational opportunities for future generations to experience specialized technologies in the AI/Big Data field and fostering interest in IT among young people, contributing to the development of talented people who will lead the future IT industry.

  • Training YouTube Creators with Disabilities

    As part of our efforts to foster IT professionals with disabilities, we are promoting the Project for Fostering YouTube Creators with Disabilities. To support people with severe disabilities who want to start YouTube channels, we operate a training program for the entire video production process, from video shooting to editing and content development, as a CI project1) leveraging the business characteristics of six POSCO Group companies.

  • DO Dream to Support Young Adults Preparing for Independence

    As a CI project1) involving the POSCO 1% Foundation and three group companies and supported by POSCO DX, this project supports the employment and social settlement of underprivileged young people who dream of becoming self-reliant by becoming professionals in the IT field, through 1:1 customized job mentoring and employment competency enhancement programs.

Community Outreach and Engagement - Safety Improvement Activities

In cooperation with local governments and NGOs, our employees conduct various talent-sharing activities, such as improving the living conditions of vulnerable people, such as people with mild cognitive impairments and the elderly living alone.

  • Creating a Safe Neighborhood

    To improve the environment of the crime-ridden area in Gwangyang, since 2021, we have been sharing our employees' talents to create a safe neighborhood through various activities, such as introducing AI voice recognition and safe return home systems and also installing solar wall lights by applying CPTED design.1)

  • Improving Housing Conditions for Vulnerable Populations

    To improve the living environment of vulnerable people, such as those with mild cognitive impairments and the elderly living alone, the Happy House Volunteer Group consisting of our employees participates in giving activities to create a safe and convenient living environment by replacing old wallpaper, cabinets, toilets, tiles, and other facilities.

  • A Variety of Talent Sharing Activities

    Employees use their knowledge, skills, and experience to run volunteer groups and support local communities and the underprivileged. Major activities include the AI robot challenge, utilization of drones, and dementia prevention and healthcare management for the digitally vulnerable elderly.

  • POSCO 1% Sharing

    Employees donate 1% of their salaries to POSCO Group's 1% Sharing Donation Project, and with the funds raised, they practice love for their neighbors in various ways, such as delivering side dishes to the elderly living alone in rural areas, sharing kits with the vulnerable, and cleaning for people with hoarding disorders.
