- Launched an EV charging infra service, with 119 EV rechargers installed for 80 Emart branches
- POSCO ICT, expands its EV charging service in a partnership with BMW Korea and Emart
- New charging stations can charge almost all EV models including BMW i3, Ray, Soul and SM3

POSCO ICT (President & CEO: Choi, Doo Whan) has made a head start in promotion of EV, by entering a partnership with BMW and Emart in line with the Korean government's policies for expanding the infrastructure for electric car recharging stations.

On the 25th of this month, POSCO ICT hosted an electric car battery charging service opening ceremony, at Emart Jukjeon branch, Yongin-si in Gyeonggi-do, in the presence of officials from the Ministry of Environment, BMW Korea and Emart, before going into a full-fledged electric car charging service.
These three companies have decided to continuously expand their EV charging service, as people's demand for electric cars have steadily increased.

The partnership between POSCO ICT and BMW for utilizing the Emart's 150 branches across the nation to establish the infrastructure for recharging electric cars for the first time in the private sector in Korea is estimated to relieve significantly the issues with how to satisfy this growing demand.POSCO ICT has so far installed a total of 119 private EV rechargers at 80 Emart branches around the country.

Anyone can use the service only with a recharging membership card issued by POSCO ICT, which covers almost every brand including BMW i3, Ray, Soul, SM3, Nissan's Leaf, and GM's Spark.
The electric car recharging system, which is a "AC idling 1-type model" with a recharging capacity of 7kw/h; this is translated into a driving distance of 50km/h, for an electric car can typically run 7km per kw.

For the system it takes about 3 hours to fully charge an electric car whose battery has run out. However, the fact that chargers are placed inside the parking lot may offset this inconvenience with electric car owners.

Starting with this Emart charging stations opening ceremony, POSCO ICT is going to buckle down to the electric car recharging business, by establishing required systems and service. Already running an electric car charging service in Jeju Island, the company is also planning to introduce a service model in cooperation with company of rechargers.
