- To expand its logistics business scope including unmanned crane solutions for steel makers in China

POSCO ICT(CEO: Choi Doowhan) is taking promising steps toward a bright future, who has successfully been carrying out an unmanned crane system building for Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., in China, holding a local demonstration for a new system, which earned good feedbacks.
 
In June 2014, POSCO ICT won the bid to a project automated crane equipment in CGL (continuous galvanizing line) of Baoshan Iron & Steel, in China, completion of which is due in August 2015.
In this project, POSCO ICT is responsible for improving equipment and test operation for unmanned operation of a crane, one of the important parts of logistics systems. The company has recently successfully completed implementing an unmanned solution on 2 cranes and held a demonstration in the presence of officials from Baoshan Iron & Steel.  

POSCO ICT has sought technical exchanges, since 2012, with Baoshan Iron & Steel in steel logistics industry including unmanned crane solutions and could participate in this project starting early this year, through a full-fledged review.  In addition, the company is making a proposal to expand the unmanned crane system implemented for the CGL to entire production lines of Baoshan Iron & Steel, is planning to expand its logistics business to other steel makers in China. 

The company has also been committed to improving the air environment in China. POSCO ICT has been supplying MPS (Micro Pulse System), an electrostatic precipitator that the company has internally developed to improve the air conditions in China, to Chinese local thermal power plants, which the company is planning to expand across the continent. 

"We have been very active in developing logistics business opportunities in China, since last year, including an unmanned crane system building project for Tangshan Iron & Steel Group," said an official with POSCO ICT, "The unmanned crane solution is emerging as a key source of income as the labor cost in Chinese market has recently been on a rapid rise."
