- Offers customized consulting services including calulations of electricity consumption

POSCO ICT(President & CEO Choi, Doo Whan) starts DR(Demand Response) business.

POSCO ICT announced that it has won the certification of DR provider from KPX(Korea Power Exchange) last month and was going to start its service early this month with 30 companies and factories.

DR business is a business model where a DR provider certified by KPX gathers companies or factories which want to reduce electricity consumption. When power demand soars, such companies or factories can get rewards back by reducing the stipulated electricity consumption to the request of KPX.

POSCO ICT, as a DR provider, is going to offer a consulting service such as computation of appropriate electricity consumption for customers and to suggest the best strategy of reducing demand according to the types of trading market in order to make customers rewarded as much as possible. Further, POSCO ICT plans to make use of its EMS(Energy Management System) and ESS to enable customers to consume energy more efficiently.

Mr. Lim Geunseok, the business manager of POSCO ICT, said "the recent radical climate changes, one of which is the longer summer, makes it difficult to predict and prepare electricity consumption, so various businesses for supporting efficient energy consumption will prevail. DR is one of them. We are going to set up a business model where DR business could prevent a serious accident like blackout and help our customers save their cost by using energy more efficiently."

POSCO ICT has designated an area supporting the energy optimization by binding the whole cycle of energy through power generation, transmission/distribution and consumption as its new growth engine. It carries out businesses including generation of new and renewable energy, energy efficiency, ESS, etc.
