2015.10.08- Promoting energy efficiency services in Banwol, Sihwaand Changwon industrial complexes
- An optimized support through diagnosis, improvementand monitoring in the energy efficiency aspect
POSCO ICT (CEO Doo Whan Choi) will be promoting a businessto improve energy efficiency on the companies of industrial complexes where themanufacturers of similar nature are crowded.
POSCO ICT was recently selected as the provider of ‘ThePilot Project for Implementation of Smart Industrial Complex’ promoted by KoreaIndustrial Complex Corporation for the energy efficiency of industrialcomplexes. POSCO ICT is planning to provide services that can raiseefficiency by possessing the optimum operating conditions and monitoring thepower usage flow chart real-time after diagnosing each equipment of the tenantcompanies of Banwol, Sihwa and Changwon industrial complexes in the energyefficiency perspective.
Along with this, POSCO ICT is also planning on providingthe services to supply in a more inexpensive way than producing at thecompanies on individual basis by installing the infrastructures to supplyhot/cold water, steam and wastewater treatment that are commonly in need by thetenant companies.
POSCO ICT will also operate a unified surveillancecenter to monitor and manage the electricity flow of the tenant companiesinside the complex as one system in order to enhance the energy efficiency Thisunified surveillance center will inform waste factors byanalyzing the electricity flow of each individual company as well as analyzing theenergy efficiency in the overall perspective of the industrial complex. It willalso provide a service to present the optimum equipment operation guide.
POSCO ICT will also adopt a program to provide supporton the installation costs in order to reduce the burden of initial investmentcosts by the tenant companies. For instance, it is considering to adopt aprogram to pay in installments using the energy costs saved by adopting thesystem or utilizing the ESCO funds which is a government fund for energyefficiency.
The company explains that return on investment ispossible in 3~5 years after adopting the system although this varies dependingon the scale of company or the form of energy consumption.
In the future, POSCO ICT is also planning to installmicrogrids for industrial complexes that consume by supplying with priority on theelectricity self-generated with eco-friendly renewable energy such asphotovoltaic and getting the insufficient electricity supplied fromthe outside after predicting the overall energy demand of industrial complexes.Along with this, the strategy is to continue expanding the business toward theway of installing the CCG (Connected Community Grid) which produces andconsumes energy independently by exchanging the energy remaining even between theindustrial complexes after combining many industrial complexes into one.
A POSCO ICT official said “We’re planning to promote ourbusiness toward the way of applying a technology to optimize energy that can becommonly used according to the characteristics of industrial complexes wherecompanies of similar business type have moved in” and also said “We’re lookingforward to the business expansion since initial investment costs can be loweredwith application of a common system that can be used together by the companieswithin the complex”.
