- POSCO ICT to offer cloud service for energy management system
- Pursuing energy efficiency projects for industrial sites and buildings
It is now possible for companies or operators of large buildings to rent a system to improve energy efficiency as required instead of directly introducing the system itself.
POSCO ICT (President & CEO: Choi, Doo Whan) is going to offer a full-scale service this year, having successfully completed the development of cloud-based energy management system.
POSCO ICT plans to provide domestic industrial sites and major buildings with the energy management system, which has been standardized to enable the system to be applied in different environments such as industrial sites or buildings, etc.
A sensor that can monitor the energy use of major equipment in manufacturing sites of companies or buildings using the service is attached; thus, data related to energy use can be collected.
The collected data are sent to the integrated energy monitoring center operated by POSCO ICT, where energy use patterns are analyzed to suggest various energy saving measures for efficient use of energy on the part of users. Since cloud service is provided, customers can not only save on the cost of system establishment but also receive analysis information from energy experts through a wide variety of devices such as smart phone.
According to POSCO ICT, users can save up to 15% of energy cost by reducing energy waste.
Having been selected as a pilot project operator supporting the industrial complex energy efficiency project supervised by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy last year, POSCO ICT is planning to apply preferentially the EMS cloud service to occupant companies in industrial complexes.
In addition, it will try to create state-of-the-art smart buildings that can use energy efficiently by applying the system to hotels, office building, etc.
“Small and medium-sized companies will be able to ease the burden of initial investment, and we will try to provide better service by supporting energy use optimization through remote analysis and diagnosis by energy experts in the future," said Im Geun-seok, Division Head of POSCO ICT.
