 POSCO ICT President & CEO Choi, Doo Whan will be awarded the "Information & Communications Grand Prize" on the 22nd, which marks the “61st Information and Communications Day” organized by the Ministry of Science, ICT, and Future Planning and hosted by the Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences. The Information & Communications Grand Prize is presented during the annual celebration of “Information & Communications Day” to an individual who made great contribution to the advancement of Korea's information and communications technology.

 For the past 35 years, President Choi not only worked for various IT companies such as Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), Bell Laboratories, NeoWave, and KT and led Research & Development for the introduction and application of new technologies in the IT field; he also succeeded in the commercialization of such technologies. Moreover, as chairperson of the Financial Services Commission-affiliated Investment Management Consulting Committee of the Growth Ladder Fund, he changed the paradigm of the government-led financing program for start-up venture/medium-sized companies' overseas expansion to revitalize the program.

 After assuming the position of president of POSCO ICT, Choi has been focusing on the development of Industrial Internet technology, which combines existing industries such as steel, energy, construction, and cutting-edge technologies such as IoT, Big Data, and AI. His dedication to the advancement of heavy industry and manufacturing field as a “Smart New Industry” and laying of the steppingstones for the future development of Korea's manufacturing industry were recognized.
