POSCO ICT (CEO Choi, Doo Whan) is running its business actively by providing its smart solutions in full scale in the cloud-based environment.

Last year, POSCO ICT forged a partnership with AWS, which boasts of the largest share in the global market, to respond to the cloud market. It has been providing various services such as consulting, infrastructure development, and operation to enterprises trying to switch to the cloud platform. Recently, POSCO ICT has switched its 45 business systems to cloud, and it plans to switch the systems of affiliated companies such as overseas company and processing base. Based on its extensive experience in project implementation, POSCO ICT is fast-tracking the cloud business.

POSCO ICT plans to make use of the cloud platform for projects that provide various proven solutions in the AWS infrastructure and expand it to the smart factory later. Those proven solutions include the energy management system in the industry field and integrated building management system that manages several buildings remotely, besides “PosFrame,” the smart industry platform of the POSCO Group.

The cloud platform lets enterprises lease the infrastructure according to their needs, when companies need software and hardware for new business . According to POSCO ICT, more and more companies are applying cloud to reduce the initial investment costs and respond quickly to the fast-changing management environment.

“We expect the related market to expand, since customers can reduce the initial investment cost if they adopt the cloud service. POSCO ICT will grow as a leader in the cloud area by supplying proven solutions to the field, based on stable infrastructure provided by AWS,” a related official of POSCO-ICT said.

On the other hand, market research firm Gartner forecast that the domestic cloud market will grow up to 4.298 trillion this year and become a 7 trillion won market by 2020.
