POSCO ICT (CEO Choi Doo Hwan) will export unattended crane systems to a Chines steelwork as part of the smart factory project.

POSCO ICT announced its plan to supply unmanned cranes and operation systems to the hot rolling/continuous casting factors for the newly constructed steelwork of Shougang Jingtang united iron and steel. In this project, there are many global companies participating to receive orders such as Schneider and Italy’s Danieli but finally, it turned out that the winning bidder is POSCO ICT with technical excellence.

After the project is completed, Shougang Jingtang united iron and steel steelwork is expected to achieve unattended/automated logistic system operation. Especially, by collecting, analyzing lots of data from the site of production/logistics and making predictions, they will be able to secure the basis for evolving to the smart factory that can control facilities automatically. The company mentioned that in the Chinese market, as the demands for production and logistic related smart factories are increased, they will aggressively explore more opportunities in the local market.

Prior to the project, in last July of 2017, POSCO ICT supplied unattended crane systems to harbor storages of Shougang Jingtang united iron and steel steelwork which gave them an opportunity for public recognition of reliable performance and technology. Besides, POSCO ICT supplied consulting service to establish a master plan for the entire system necessary for the construction of steel production base in Rizhao, China, and also afterward, it participated in the project to implement the production management system (MES) which signified POSCO ICT’s aggressive activities aiming at local steelworks in China.

On the other hand, Shougang Jingtang united iron and steel steelwork is a steel company newly founded in Tangshan, Hebeisheong by Shoudo steelwork and since 2009, it has been annually producing 9.7 million tons of steel for automobile, pipes, surface treatment steel plates and so on.
