- Pinkboxes were donated to school girls from low-income households in a special campaign linked up the company’s Thanks Sharing activities.
Some time ago, news about low-income school girls who had to resort to using insoles because they were too poor to buy menstrual pads caused an outcry in our society. This led to the start of the Pinkbox campaign, which seeks to protect the health of low-income girls by providing them with donated hygienic products. POSCO ICT has joined this campaign by expanding its ‘Thanks Sharing’ activities to include Pinkbox support activities. The company is expanding the joys of ‘Thanks Sharing’ to the wider society and thereby spreading a positive mindset.
POSCO ICT employees are taking part in a company-wide campaign of sending thank you notes to colleagues towards whom at one time or another they felt a sense of gratitude. The campaign was started from the idea that expressing gratitude will lead to better cooperation among employees and radiate a positive mindset throughout the organization. The company developed an application with which employees could conveniently send thank you notes to their colleague. The application also gives users the option to send beverage coupons as a present to their colleague of choice.
The Pinbox campaign was conceived to put to better use the mobile coupons that people have collected. Since May, employees who wanted to take part in the campaign have been donating their Thanks Sharing coupons. Last month, the donated amount was enough to pay for the production of Pink boxes for 100 school girls. Six months of worth Pink boxes, embodying the sincere concerns of POSCO ICT employees and containing essential items like female hygiene products, pouches, body products, and other items, were delivered to low-income female students in Pohang.
Manager Moon Eun-suk who participated in the program, said, “I thought the program was a great idea when I came across the notice and I applied immediately.” She added, “The thought that the thank you messages I exchanged with my colleagues could be of small but meaningful help to girls in difficult circumstances filled me with joy. I felt an even greater sense of satisfaction when sending a thank you note to someone.”
By not only continuing its Pinkbox campaign but by also linking its ‘Thanks Sharing’ activities with other social contribution efforts, POSCO ICT intends to implement its new corporate vision of ‘Corporate Citizens Who Grow With the Community, With POSCO.’
