Son Geonjae appointed as POSCO ICT CEO

Son Geonjae, the former POSMATE CEO, has been inaugurated as new CEO of POSCO ICT.

New CEO Son started his service after an inauguration ceremony held at the company’s Pangyo office building on January 2nd.

He was graduated from Mechanical Engineering Department, SUNGKYUNKWAN University and completed master’s course on technological management at POSTECH. He is a well-versed business manager with an
engineering background. After joining POSCO in 1985, he has served as Equipment Technology General Manager, Pohang and Kwangyang Steel Mills, Deputy Head  of Kwangyang
Works
, Vice President of POSCO PLANTEC, and CEO of POSMATE.
 

He is assessed to be best qualified for the CEO position POSCO ICT as he has extensive expertise and experience in management while having accumulated rich experiences and skills in the production field. He plans to support the stable growth of POSCO Group that is under preparation to be a century-old corporate by combining IT and EIC engineering in the era of 4th Industrial Revolution that is emerging in earnest. 

Son plans to develop new growth engines by actively exploring external markets on the basis of new business having competitiveness proven with remarkable achievements. In particular, it plans to concentrate on ‘smart factory’ it has deployed for the steel industry for the first time in the world to explore the global market as well as the domestic market.

“I’ll renew our determination to be reborn into a company that impresses all of its stakeholders happy, including its customers, shareholders, and employees while securing differentiated core capabilities unique to POSCO ICT,” said CEO Son in his inauguration speech.


Meanwhile, he plans to have meetings with the individual employees visiting the company’s business establishments home and abroad. Through such activities, he is going to listen to the voices on site to reflect on the company’s management.
