POSCO ICT operates car sharing service using its company vehicles

POSCO ICT is attracting interest by pursuing corporate citizenship with the creative business idea of renting the company vehicles to its employees on weekends and holidays. It then donates the car rental fees to the 1% Nanum Foundation.

POSCO ICT started a company vehicle sharing service on November 27 of last year. To use the service, users must first download a dedicated app and reserve a vehicle at least 10 days in advance. The daily rental rate is KRW 20,000, which is much cheaper than renting from a rental car company; if the vehicle is driven by a POSCO employee, it will be covered by insurance. For this reason, employees are already getting in line to make reservations.
Among users planning on a trip during weekends or national holidays with their parents and families, the Carnival is more popular than cars because of its larger passenger capacity. The company donates its earnings from the service to the 1% Nanum Foundation, and employees get a tax benefit at the year-end tax adjustment. POSCO ICT plans to pilot the service by the end of this year, and then make improvements in order to expand the service to the Pohang and Gwangyang regions next year.
