POSCO ICT (CEO Park Han-yong), the merger of former POSDATA and POSCON, announced that it will supply its own PSD solution to Sao Paulo Metro in Brazil. The platform screen doors play a central role in enhancing passenger comfort and safety.

POSCO ICT recently signed a contract to supply Sao Paulo Metro with PSD system for Line 3. The project with a budget of KRW 13 billion will entail the installation of the PSD-related system in 12 subway stations by 2012.

Last January, POSCO ICT also signed a supply contract worth KRW 10 billion with Sao Paulo Metro for Lines No. 2 and 4. It has already completed the installation for Sacoma, the first station of Line No. 2, and launched the normalized operation. The Lines No. 2 and 4 Project to install the system in the total of 9 subway stations is scheduled for completion in January 2011.

These two contracts hold much significance for POSCO ICT in that the company’s technological prowess and know-how acquired at home lay the groundwork for making entry into overseas markets. POSCO ICT expects that the successful project completion in Brazil will be followed by additional orders from Hong Kong, Taiwan, and other Asian markets and Argentina, Chile, and other Central and South American markets.

A representative from POSCO ICT explained, “Installation of PSD in subway stations separates the platform from the track to prevent an accidental fall and reduce air and noise pollution for the benefit of the passengers. Many foreign markets are benchmarking the success in Korea, and they are speeding up to introduce the related system. This makes the market prospect very bright."

In Korea, POSCO ICT successfully supplied PSD to Seoul Subway Lines No. 2 and 7 and Gwangju Subway. It is currently participating in the PSD Supply Project for 10 subway stations, including Seonneung Station, in Seoul.
