POSCO ICT Clinches an LED Lighting Project to Light Up 2012 Yeosu Expo Korea

LED project involves implementation of
- Outdoor lighting system, using eco-friendly LED lighting, and
- Integrated control and monitoring system exclusively for outdoor lighting

POSCO ICT (CEO, Huh Nam-suk) wins a bid to provide lighting technologies and services to the 2012 Yeosu Expo.

With this project, POSCO ICT will install nighttime outdoor lighting including eco-friendly LED lighting on a 110,000-pyeong (363636.364 m²) site encompassing International exposition center, to be opened in Yeosu in 2012, and implement intelligent lighting control systems for the Yeosu Expo. As numerous enterprises from all over the world will participate in the Expo, this project is expected to provide high profile opportunities to present a good opportunity to showcase domestic LED lighting.

POSCO ICT will install nighttime landscape lighting in open air spaces, waterfront spaces, and Energy Park, and develop a U-integration system to operate and monitor scenery lighting. In particular, the company will implement smart lighting control systems leveraging benefits of LED lighting, capable of varying lighting properties based on the time of the day for greater appeal to visitors with added benefit of energy savings.

“More and more exhibition halls, theme parks, and new buildings are using LED lighting in ways similar to this project. We will seize this opportunity to actively develop lighting systems integration market. In particular, we will provide a total service related to lighting, lighting systems and lighting control solutions and control solution, in cooperation with the recently launched POSCO LED,” said a POSCO ICT spokesperson.

Meanwhile, POSCO ICT recently won a contract to provide outdoor scenery lighting for the Sangam Digital Media Street project. Installation of street lamps and bus shelters in their central area of Sangam DMC (Digital Media City) is under way.
