POSCO ICT and Hyosung Group have agreed to actively cooperate in expanding smart factories to strengthen the competitiveness of manufacturing industries in the post-Corona era.
To this end, POSCO ICT and Hyosung ITX signed a business agreement for smart factory cooperation at POSCO ICT's Pangyo building on the 20th. The signing ceremony was attended by POSCO ICT President Son Geon-jae, Hyosung ITX President Nam Kyung-hwan and other company officials.
Through this agreement, the two companies are planning to jointly develop MES (Integrated Production Management System) and SCM (Supply Chain Management System) that are operated in smart factory environment that incorporate technologies of the 4th industrial revolution such as AI, Big Data, and IoT, and spread them to domestic and foreign manufacturing sites. POSCO ICT plans to create synergy by integrating technologies from both companies and conducting joint marketing campaigns by providing technologies and project performance experiences secured while promoting smart factory operated by POSCO, while Hyosung ITX plans to provide solutions in areas such as image analysis processing and facility management.
As such, the industry's attention is focused on cooperation between the two groups, which have abundant experience and technology in the smart factory field of smart factory. POSCO ICT successfully promoted the steel mill smart factory with POSCO, helping POSCO be selected as the first "lighthouse factory" selected by the World Economic Forum (WEF).
In addition, the two companies will jointly push for Smart Safety, which uses AI and Big Data technologies, and RPA, voice recognition and chatbot solutions for smartening office work for safety management of construction and manufacturing sites.
"Through this agreement, we expect to create synergy in the smart factory sector by combining technologies and know-how that the two companies have," a POSCO ICT official said. "We plan to expand smart factories to various manufacturing industries, including chemicals, heavy industries and textiles, through cooperation with Hyosung ITX."
"We are confident that we will create synergy in various areas such as heavy industry, textiles, chemicals and steel in the future through the sharing of capabilities and ideas accumulated by both companies," a Hyosung ITX official said. "Based on this, we will proactively respond to changes in the market and contribute to strengthening our customers' manufacturing competitiveness."
