POSCO ICT Promotes Smart Solutions in Response to Post Corona era

2020.06.02

POSCO ICT (CEO Son Geon-jae) is developing and supplying AI, Big Data, and IoT-based smart solutions in response to the "Post-Corona" era, and launching "IXOTIVE," an integrated brand representing solutions.

POSCO ICT has developed a smart factory platform based on technologies and know-how that it secured in the process of promoting smart factory for the first time in Korea, and is planning to commercialize it in earnest by utilizing them. In addition, it will also push for 'untact' solutions that are developed in areas such as RPA (Robotic Process Automation), AI-based corporate insolvency prediction, credit rating, and facial recognition.

POSCO ICT's latest integrated solution brand "IXOTIVE" means that it will provide new values and possibilities to customers by combining IT (Information Technology) with OT (Operation Technology). As the 4th industrial revolution, such as smart factory, is spreading, the importance of OT technology, which directly controls not only IT technology but also facilities at production sites, is emphasized, and the two technologies are combined to lead digital transformation to strengthen the competitiveness of companies after Corona.

Representative solution provided by POSCO ICT is Smart Factory. POSCO ICT has successfully promoted the world's first steel mill smart factory based on its smart factory platform 'PosFrame'. As a result, POSCO was the first Korean company to be selected as the "lighthouse factory" by the World Economic Forum (WEF). Recently, POSCO ICT further diversified its solution portfolio by developing ‘PosMaster’, a smart PLC for on-site facility intelligence, and 'VoRIS', which controls the facility through voice recognition. POSCO ICT has promoted the smart factory of LS-Nikko Copper Co., the nation's largest nonferrous metal company, and Donghwa Corp., a wood company, and has recently joined hands with Hyosung Group to push for the spread to chemicals and heavy industries.

The 'untact' solution, which is on the rise due to Corona19, is also one of its pillars. FaceRo, an AI-based face recognition solution, boasts fast processing speed and accuracy to detect and certify faces in 0.5 seconds while wearing a mask. In addition to the access system, it can also be used for payment systems, attendance at education, and log on to various systems that are applied to restaurants and cafes.

Robotic Process Automation(RPA) solutions that automate simple repetitive office work are expanding supply through cooperation with industry-specific partners such as finance, manufacturing and distribution. The AI-based corporate insolvency prediction and credit rating solution ‘CREDEX’ is a service that provides information to customers before insolvency occurs by collecting and analyzing financial and non-financial data of companies in real time and predicting debt repayment and financing capabilities in advance. As uncertainty in corporate management is increasing due to Corona 19, it is evaluated that it has optimized corporate risk management by upgrading further to overcome the limitations of existing credit information services.

Moon Yong-suk, executive director of POSCO ICT's Technology Development Center, said, "We will prepare a portfolio of smart solutions that incorporate IT technologies and domain capabilities such as AI and Big Data in preparation for post-Corona, and support customers' digital transformation while creating new growth engines at the company level."
