POSCO ICT employees go to work with their children

- In-house childcare center opens at Pangyo Office building
- 40 infants aged 1 ~ 4 can be accommodated.

For some time, it’s not uncommon to find working moms at Pangyo POSCO ICT office building coming to work holding their children’s hands.

POSCO ICT (CEO Hur Nam-suk) opened a childcare center for employees inside the company building on the 22nd of this month, in order to participate in the government’s policy to resolve the nations’ low-birth rate problem, and to improve employ engagement by alleviating their burden of childcare.

POSCO ICT opened a 270㎡ size “POSCO ICT Child Care Center” on the first floor of Pangyo office building in Gyeongi-do. The Child Care Center is composed of three classrooms and a kitchen, and can accommodate up to 40 infants and children.

Kindergarten pupils were selected from 1 ~ 4 years old infants of single parents, female employees, and working couples. The center is run from 7:30 in the morning to 9:00 in the evening every day to accommodate flexible working hours. Infants will be grouped into three teams according to their age, and 7 professional teachers will teach music, English, and physical training.

“I can visit the center any time I want. I am especially relieved when my child is sick, because I can check on my child frequently, and take my child to the hospital at lunch time,” said Lee Hyeon-ok who leaves her child at the center.

POSCO ICT opened the center in the lobby of the company building to alleviate employee’s high burden of childcare, and to provide a stable work environment to heighten work engagement.

POSCO ICT also introduced the flexible seating arrangement system throughout the building when they moved to Pangyo office building last June. Employees don’t have a fixed seat and all fixed line phones were removed implement a smart office environment. As a result, more than 20% of office space is saved, and the extra space is utilized to enhance idea generation and creativity for better communication among employees.
