- POSCO ICT will enter the European market for the steel measuring instrument business
- The accuracy of domestic steel products and productivity are expected to be improved

POSCO ICT (CEO Hur Nam-suk) announced that it has signed an MOU with EMG, which is a specialized measuring instrument company in Germany, for business cooperation, in order to improve the quality and productivity of domestic steel products, and to enter the European market in full scale.

EMG is a global company that provides measuring instruments throughout the world, and it possesses the world’s best technology and customer base in illuminometers, material analyzers, electronic valves, and oil pressure cylinder measurements.

POSCO ICT will cooperate with EMG to supply new measurement systems to POSCO Steelworks. During this process, POSCO ICT plans to learn EMG's advanced technologies in the measurement area, and to support domestic steel companies in improving product quality and productivity, as the demand for high quality steel increases.

POSCO ICT received the source technology related to measuring instruments in 2007. This type of technology has been developed by POSCO Technology Research Center, and POSCO ICT provided it to domestic steelworks after commercializing it independently. POSCO ICT commercialized five products, such as the surface defect detector (SDD), width measurer, pinhole detector, edge defect detector, and flatness detector, and is implementing a project that involves applying these products to POSCO Steelworks. POSCO ICT will increase the product line through continuous collaboration with POSC Technology Research Center, and will have the opportunity to supply its measuring instruments to the European market through cooperation with EMS.
