- POSCO ICT handles Incheon International Airport communication infrastructure valued at 40 billion won in total.

POSCO ICT (CEO Hur Nam-suk) is appointed as a service provider for airport communication infrastructure operation, besides the BHS (Baggage Handling System).

POSCO ICT plans to provide operation services for overall communication infrastructures, including communication facilities such as information broadcasting equipment and image satellite equipment, as well as the operation information displays system core equipment for airport operation, and arrival and departure information system, based on the consortium with Asiana IDT and Hana Information Technology. The scale of the project is 40 billion won, and POSCO ICT will manage related services for three years, starting from January next year.

In particular, the project is highly evaluated in that POSCO ICT consortium will operate the airport communication system and operation communication system, which were operated individually by different service providers, in an integrated manner and efficiency of related system operation can be improved. POSCO ICT secured the best reference in the airport area, by expanding the business area from the development and operation of BHS Phase 1 and 2 systems to the communication infrastructure.

POSCO ICT has developed the BHS in Incheon International Airport in 2001, and has been operating the system since then. System availability and processing speed are guaranteed. In particular, the rate of late baggage was one out of one hundred thousand last year, which was only 10% of other overseas airports.

“We can obtain operation know-how about core systems for airport operation from this project. Based on this project, POSCO ICT will develop overseas markets actively, by developing the system development and operation project in major overseas airports proactively,” said one POSCO ICT officials.
