- Energy efficiency will be promoted by applying the smart grid technology.
- An opportunity of companion growth is given by eco-friendly green growth.
POSCO ICT (CEO Hur Nam-Suk) and SNNC (CEO Lee Sang-Hong) signed a MoU for smart industry development, and announced full-scale commencement of the related business last 31 at POSCO ICT Pangyo Office Building.
“Smart-Industry” refers to the system that shows and manages the flow and use status of all energy resources at a glance, including the electric power used in the industry, gas, and heat, so that CO2 emission can be reduced by energy saving.
Based on the agreement on this occasion, two companies will develop the system-level management system. For this, two companies will install intelligent measurement instrument for various production unit devices by June next year to check energy consumption and flow, and also install the FEMS (Factory Energy Management System) that remotely monitors and controls the operating status of various devices, by introducing the remote control and monitoring system.
It is expected that the system can help SNNC to save 2 billion and 180 million won energy cost every year owing to efficient energy management, and optimal facility operation in consideration of production.
Before working with SNNC, POSCO ICT developed the smart grid infrastructure at the oxygen factory, POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks, together with Research Institute of Industrial Science & Technology in 2010. After obtaining substantial achievements, POSCO ICT has been implementing the “smart industry” test bed project to maximize energy efficiency, as the second phase.
Moreover, POSCO ICT will develop the FEMS internally to save electric power and reduce CO2 emission by interfacing the FEMS with various solutions, and advancing the efficiency analysis system.
