PONUTech, which stands for “POSCO Nuclear Technology”, was officially founded by holding an opening ceremony on the 20th of the last month. PONUTech is a new subsidiary company of POSCO Family for the nuclear power plant business.

With its 30 billion won capital, PONUTech will focus on instrumentation and control parts of the nuclear power plant and thermoelectric power plant. Also, PONUTech will promote instrumentation and control construction works, test operation, and equipment manufacturing for nuclear power plant. PONUTech is a wholly-owned subsidiary of POSCO ICT, which acquired nuclear power plant business from Samchang Co., Ltd. As a result, PONUTech became the largest maintenance company for instrumentation and control parts of the nuclear power plant in Korea, by providing the maintenance service to major domestic nuclear power plants, including Younggwang unit 1, Ulchin unit 1&2, Wulsung unit 1, and Sin-Kori unit 1 Nuclear Power Plant.

With the foundation of PONUTech, POSCO ICT will concentrate all capabilities of POSCO Family to develop the nuclear power plant business as the future growth business continuously. POSCO ICT has participated in the localization and development project for new next-generation instrumentation and control equipment, and successfully developed a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller). POSCO ICT tries to supply the developed PLC to ShinUlchin unit 1&2 Nuclear Power Plant. POSCO ICT is currently participating in the development of the SMART nuclear reactor at the POSCO Family level to secure related technologies and experiences.

PONUTech will create new synergy by combining its technologies and know-how with those of POSCO ICT, and expand its business scope from nuclear power plant maintenance to the Man-Machine Interface System and specialized measurement equipment maintenance.
