POSCO ICT is holding YouTube ContestPOSCO ICT cooperates with CISCO for smart factory security solution
2020.07.21
POSCO ICT will work with CISCO to launch a full-fledged security solution for smart factory systems that operates national infrastructure such as major industrial sites and power plants.
POSCO ICT said its smart factory security solution 'Poshield' has been selected for CISCO's CDA(Country Digital Acceleration) program. CDA is a program at Cisco's headquarters that selects solutions and business items that can contribute to the acceleration of digitalization in each country around the world and provides funds needed for initial commercialization. The CDA program for Korea was finalized after a long review. Cisco explained, "As the importance of security is being emphasized as the smart factory spreads, POSCO ICT has been selected to contribute to security in this field."
POSCO ICT's 'Poshield' is a security system applicable to smart factory environments. By applying machine learning, the command pattern issued to the control system of industrial sites is learned by itself, and if unusual orders are issued, it is judged that there is a possibility of external infringement and immediately warns the manager. Because it learns control order patterns and reference data on its own, it fundamentally blocks concerns about leakage of core technologies such as facility operation information to the outside world.
Through the CDA program, POSCO ICT plans to jointly explore the business with CISCO. It will discover business models and create a foundation for business by applying security solutions to companies that have difficulty in investing due to Corona 19. In addition, it is also pushing to develop a new type of security solution combined with CISCO's network security solution 'Stealth Watch'. It is to push for convergence with POSCO ICT solutions that detect abnormal control commands and CISCO solutions that detect abnormal signs by analyzing traffic flow in control network networks.
Security experts emphasize the importance of security as the spread of smart factories has linked all major national facilities such as power plants, ports, roads, and major industrial facilities such as steel mills, oil refineries and chemical facilities through IoT, raising the risk that the entire system could be paralyzed by external intrusion. Markets and Markets, a U.S. market research firm, also predicted that the global industrial control system security market will continue to grow to reach 18 billion dollars in 2023.
"We have developed a security solution that combines AI to accommodate the characteristics of various industrial facilities due to the growing importance of security for smart factories," a POSCO ICT official said. "We expect that we will be able to strengthen our business in the field of smart factory security by combining our capabilities with the CISCO CDA program."
