POSCO ICT announced that it has received an order of developing the AFC (Auto Fare Collection) system for Kiheung and Suwon station on Bundang Subway Line, Kyeonggido, which is the extension line of Bundang Subway Line. POSCO ICT plans to implement the project soon.

Accordingly, POSCO ICT will newly develop the AFC for the passengers who use 7 stations (Sanggal, Yeongdeok, Yeongtong, Bangjuk, Maetan, City Hall, and Maegyo) between Kiheung and Suwon by the end of 2012, and will install accompanying equipment, such as single strip ticket issuing machine, transportation card charger, and payment system.

POSCO ICT has combined IT and engineering technologies to provide the system that can provide all railway-related systems at a time, such as design for railway system development, power distribution, streetcar line facilities, SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), signaling system, communication, AFC, and screen doors. POSCO ICT has also developed the overseas market using its railway service brand “Unitrack,” and exported the screen door system to Sao Paulo subway line 2, 3, and 4 in Brazil, and is diversifying the market to South East Asia like Vietnam.

“POSCO ICT has every technology and solution related to the railway and can provide them collectively, because POSCO ICT possesses both IT technologies and engineering skills as a result of POSDATA and POSCON consolidation in 2010. Based on domestic references, POSCO ICT will spur entry into overseas markets from this year,” said a POSCO ICT official.
