POSCO ICT is planning to expand RPA in public institutions

2020.08.18

POSCO ICT is going to apply its RPA (Robotic Process Automation) solution 'A.WORKS', and start to spread RPA to public institutions following finance and distribution sectors.

POSCO ICT said its RPA solution has been selected for the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp.'s project to establish an RPA to automate its work process. 7 RPA solutions released in the domestic market participated in the bidding, showing high interest in related industries.

Through the project, the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp. plans to apply RPA to 10 tasks first, and establish a roadmap for the spread of RPA from the selection of tasks to be applied.

RPA is automatic processing of standardized and regular repetitive tasks by applying SW robots.
Until last year, RPA was introduced mainly by large companies, but this year, the corona 19 virus has spread and is gradually spreading to the public sector. Market experts say that the public sector, in particular, has many standardized and repetitive tasks, making it easier to automate tasks through RPA.

Prior to this project, POSCO ICT supported the establishment of a pilot RPA that automates tasks such as travel expenses and settlement of business operating expenses by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
POSCO ICT plans to carry out projects for public institutions in earnest based on its experience in participating in projects by the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp. and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. At the same time, the company plans to upgrade its solution through various AI technologies such as OCR, Chatbot, Text Analysis, and Data Mining.

"RPA, which was introduced mainly by large companies, is spreading to government agencies and small and medium-sized companies starting this year," said Kang Shin-dan, head of POSCO ICT Solution Marketing Group. "We plan to carry out this project successfully and actively pursue projects for the public sector as demand for RPA increases as interest in non-face-to-face and remote business processing increases due to the influence of Corona 19."

Meanwhile, since the launch of 'A.WORKS' last year, POSCO ICT has provided it to POSCO and other group-affiliated companies to verify their performance, and has been pushing for a proliferation project with Hana Financial Group Inc. and other financial institutions. In addition, it is expanding its application scope to distribution and service sectors in cooperation with Shinsegae I&C.
