POSCO ICT won the train wireless system installation project for Honam High-speed Railway

- POSCO ICT will design wireless TRS and develop related systems for Honam High-speed Railway
- Getting ready to explore overseas markets, including Brazil, using the total solution related to railways

POSCO ICT (CEO Hur Nam-Suk) will take part in the train wireless communication system for the Osong-Gwangju section, Honam High-speed Railway, which is promoted by the Korea Rail Network Authority.

The project will be implemented from September this year to the end of 2014 (28 months), and the amount of orders received by POSCTO ICT is 5 billion and 160 million won.

It is reported that POSCO ICT will design the TRS (Trunked Radio System), which is a wireless communication facility among trains and between trains and stations, and develop related systems as a member of SK E&C Consortium. POSCO ICT will also undertake the interface with the digital TRS of Seoul-Busan High-speed Railway Phase 1 and 2, as well as disaster prevention wireless communication network.

Taking the opportunity of winning the project on this occasion, POSCO ICT plans to participate in high-speed railway business area actively.

POSCO ICT is improving their business competitiveness by possessing the capability of implementing an entire project, using the total solution about the railroad industry, such as power transmission and distribution, electric car line, signaling device, AFC (Auto Fair Collection), PSD (Platform Screen Door), and tracks, besides the railway communication system that combines their IT and engineering technologies.

Entry into overseas markets is also actively promoted by making those technologies and products as a brand.

POSCO ICT has been developing the railroad market in Latin America, including Brazil, Argentina, and Chile, using their newly establish local entity in Brazil, and also preparing related business in Southeast Asia including Vietnam.

Using these products and technologies, we will concentrate on developing domestic as well as overseas markets,” said one POSCO ICT official.
