POSCO ICT Appointed Bong-Rae Cho as a New CEO at the Regular Annual General Meeting of Shareholders

POSCO ICT held a regular shareholder’s general meeting on 25th of this month, and appointed Bong-Rae Cho, chief of Pohang Steelworks, POSCO, as a new CEO. CEO Cho joined POSCO in 1980 after graduating from Department of Metallurgical Engineering, Pusan National University. He built his career as an authentic engineer by serving as the manager of iron-making department, manager of the technology development office, and chief of Pohang Steelworks. He is recognized as an expert with the mindset of mild and reasonable “changes and innovation.”

CEO Cho plans to carry out the project advancement strategy in earnest by combining EIC, which is a differentiation factor of POSCO ICT, with IT technology, in order to make a growth engine for take-off. He also plans to implement strategies to secure growth capability by stages, and activities that can double employee’s business capabilities.

“The last three years was the time of laying the foundation for continued growth by executing PMI successfully, which was caused by integration of companies. We need to upgrade company’s capabilities to attain substantial achievements, and take off to the next level,” said CEO Cho.

On the other hand, POSCO ICT appointed Gi-Hong Park, CEO of POSCO, as a non-executive director and re-appointed Guk-Hwan Jeon, managing director (director of management and planning) as an inside director. As a result, POSCO ICT will be managed by four directors, including 2 inside directors, 1 other non-executive director, and 1 outside director (Son Uk, professor, Graduate School of Convergence Science & Technology, Seoul National University. During the general meeting, POSCO ICT promoted Seung-Ju Lee, managing director of EIC Business Division, to an executive director; and appointed Jong-Jin Choe, managing director of POSCO P&S, as the managing director of Management Support Office.
