POSCO ICT cooperates with AhnLab for Smart Factory security solution

2020.10.19

POSCO ICT has decided to jointly carry out security projects with Ahnlab on industrial control systems
that move national infrastructure such as major industrial sites and power plants.

To this end, both companies signed a business agreement on cooperation in the field of smart factory security
at POSCO ICT's Pangyo building on the 16th. The signing ceremony was attended by POSCO ICT President Son Geon-jae, Ahnlab CEO Kang Seok-kyun and other company officials.

Through this cooperation, POSCO ICT will combine Ahnlab's "OTsecurity threat detection sensor" with its first AI-based
smart factory security solution PoShield, which is developed for the first time in Korea, to carry out a joint project based on it.

With AhnLab's solution, the two companies will be able to provide customers with more enhanced security functions
by analyzing and detecting malicious codes and network security vulnerabilities in the industrial control system, and using POSCO ICT's PoShield to detect and respond to abnormal control orders actually issued at the site.

Based on this, the company plans to conduct joint marketing to supply solutions to manufacturing sites and power plants such as steel mills, oil refining, chemicals, displays, and semiconductors.

POSCO ICT's PoShield is a security solution specialized in the smart factory sector that applies machine learning to learn control command patterns issued to control systems at industrial sites on its own

and immediately warns managers when unusual commands are issued.

Since AI is applied to learn control order patterns and standard data on its own, its advantage is that it has fundamentally blocked concerns that
core technologies such as facility operation information are leaked to external security companies.

POSCO ICT President Son Geon-jae said, "As major national facilities such as power plants, ports and roads are all connected due to the spread of IT technology, the importance of security is being emphasized

as there is a growing risk that the entire system may be temporarily paralyzed by external intrusion," adding, "We expect to combine the strengths of both solutions to provide more enhanced services in the field of smart factory security."

"The importance of smart factory security is increasing due to the recent expansion of security threats targeting smart factories," said Kang Seok-kyun, CEO of Ahnlab.
"We will strengthen various smart factory security at home and abroad by taking advantage of the two companies' strengths of operating smart factories and responding to security threats."
