POSCO ICT will carry out "K-Smart Lighthouse Plant" project for Daesun Distilling by applying technology and know-how that established POSCO Smart Factory, the first lighthouse factory in Korea. 

POSCO ICT announced that it will build a smart factory that can be remotely controlled in real time at Busan business site of Daesun Distilling. "K-Smart Lighthouse Plant" is a project that benchmarks the "lighthouse plant" selected by the World Economic Forum to support the construction of smart factories for small and medium-sized companies sponsored by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. In June, Daesun Distilling was selected as a beneficiary. 

Through this project, POSCO ICT plans to establish a system in which production, quality, and inventory management are integrated by establishing a Smart SMB(Small Medium Business) MES (Manufacturing Execution System), and to collect and analyze data from production sites to monitor real-time facilities. In addition, it is planning to establish IoT system for process logistics automation using industrial robots and real-time analysis of raw material components. In the final stage, the system of smart factories such as AI vision inspectors, industrial control security systems, and Big Data analysis systems will be completed. 

Daesun Distilling, which has been pushing for manufacturing innovation since the construction of the new Gijang plant in 2008, will further improve production efficiency at the site by automating facilities by process through this project. In particular, with a data-based plant operating system, it can expect to smarten up from a 'collect-store-analyze-utilize' perspective based on field big data. 

POSCO ICT, which promoted POSCO Smart Factory, Korea's first lighthouse plant, will expand its Smart Factory business to food and beverage manufacturing sectors, including continuous and assembly processes. In addition, POSCO ICT plans to participate in the annual "K-Smart Lighthouse Plant" project driven by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups to actively support domestic small and medium-sized companies' manufacturing competitiveness. 

Meanwhile, the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Team of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups selected 10 companies, including Daesun Distilling in June, to support innovation of small and medium-sized manufacturers by applying high-tech technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data. 

Daesun Distilling was selected as a project winner as it was evaluated as excellent in upgrading, sustainability, industrial/economic ripple effects by proposing a smart lighthouse plant with POSCO ICT. As a result, it will receive various support such as consulting, solutions, and know-how transfer through Open Innovation with industry-academic research over the next three years.
