POSCO ICT to foster Digital Twin, Robot, and Smart Safety

POSCO ICT announced that it will further enhance market leadership in smart factories and foster them as new growth engines by focusing its capabilities on digital twin, robot, and smart safety.

POSCO ICT held general meeting of shareholders at its headquarters in Pohang on the 21st and explained such strategies for to shareholders. POSCO ICT's management keywords for this year are 'innovation' and 'growth'. It plans to speed up innovation, which has been promoted in earnest since Jung Duk-kyoon took office last year, strengthen market leadership by further upgrading its strategic business, and secure growth engines by intensively fostering businesses in the safety, smart logistics and robotics.

President Jung Duk-koon said, "Last year was a time of 'innovation' for POSCO ICT to improve its constitution. We will do our best to maximize corporate value by focusing on securing future growth engines while continuously promoting and internalizing innovation activities."

In the smart factory sector, which is being promoted as a strategic project, it plans to further evolve and develop new technologies such as digital twin, incorporate them into new material businesses of POSCO Steel Mill and lithium and nickel, and promote the spread to other manufacturing sites in Korea. To this end, it also established a smart technology control tower for efficient research and development of related technologies such as digital twin and AI.

In addition, the company plans to select environment, safety, and robots as future growth projects and foster them intensively to create a success model for this year. Earlier this year, POSCO ICT launched a Task Force Team dedicated to environmental projects, safety, and robot projects to realize carbon neutrality. Through this, it is also actively promoting industrial robotization projects for high-risk work environment in connection with smart factories.

The smart safety sector, which is in increasing demand following the enforcement of the Major Disaster Penalty Act, also plans to actively promote commercialization. POSCO ICT is building a safety plant for steel mills with POSCO, and plans to spread it to group companies and external smart factory customers, while actively commercializing safety platforms at construction sites.

Meanwhile, through this shareholders' meeting, President Jung Duk-koon was reappointed as CEO, POSCO ICT Management Planning Director Kim Kyung-sik was appointed as an in-house director, and POSCO Holdings Future Technology Research Institute Director Chung Chang-hwa was appointed as another emergency director. In addition, Kim Ho-won, former head of the Korean Intellectual Property Office, was newly appointed as an outside director.
