POSCO ICT and Shinsegae I&C form strategic partnerships and cooperate to spread RPA, a software robot for office work automation.

The two companies decided to cooperate in developing RPA specialized in distribution service domains based on A.Works, POSCO ICT's RPA solution. POSCO ICT will provide solutions, and Shinsegae I&C will be in charge of establishing and operating services in the internal and external distribution fields based on POSCO ICT solutions. Based on Shinsegae I&C's expertise in securing know-how and references for Shinsegae Group, it will jointly promote the spread of RPA to various distribution fields and develop specialized service models to promote joint commercialization.

In response to the recent hyper-automation trend through combination with various AI solutions, POSCO ICT plans to promote linkage between A.Works solution and various distribution service solutions developed by Shinsegae I&C. Through this, it is possible to expect productivity innovation and increased returns by implementing work automation in the distribution service sector, which has a relatively high cost ratio due to relatively many manual tasks.

Prior to this cooperation, POSCO ICT signed a partnership with Hana Financial Group's Hana Financial TI in 2020 to secure RPA specialized in industrial domains by establishing a cooperative portfolio with expertise in finance, distribution services, and manufacturing.

POSCO ICT launched A.Works in 2019, and is supplying solutions to various fields such as distribution, manufacturing, and the public, including Hana Bank, the Korea Electric Power Corporation(KEPCO), Agricultural and Marine Products Distribution Corporation, Shinhyup Federation, and Daiso. Last year, beyond the level of a single bot handling simple repetitive tasks, several bots collaborated with each other and upgraded to perform complex and important tasks. In addition, it is opening the RPA 2.0 era by simplifying the script (program) that instructs the bot to work in preparation for the era of one bot per employee.

Meanwhile, RPA is a system that automates tasks that are repeatedly handled by humans through software robots. The introduction of solutions has become more active in recent years in that they can simplify and automate tasks at relatively low investment costs in a short period of time without significantly changing the existing business system. In particular, experts say that in the case of the financial sector, it will be standardized, causing many repetitive tasks, and it will be further spread as it can reduce human errors such as writing errors.
