To prepare for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics Korea, POSCO ICT (CEO Bong-Rae Cho) will participate in the project designed to create a specialized flower tourism garden and construct a photovoltaic power generation station within the garden, together with Wonju Citycity government.
For this, POSCO ICT signed a business alliance agreement with Wonju Specialized Flower Tourism Garden Development Co, Ltd., which is a special purpose company (SPC) that is newly established to implement the project, on the 10th at Wonju city hall.
Chang-Muk Won, major of Wonju City, Bong-Rae Cho, CEO of POSCO ICT, and Yeong-Man Kim, CEO of Wonju Specialized Flower Tourism Garden Development participated in the signing ceremony.
POSCO ICT will carry forward the EPC project as a member of the consortium. The EPC project will manage design, purchase, and construction of the site and various infrastructures collectively, which will be used to product flowers and construct a distribution complex.
In addition, POSCO ICT will also establish an infrastructure for photovoltaic power generation inside the flower garden.
On the other hand, Wonju City plans to cultivate flowers and build a complex on the 1,809.880m2 (547,000 pyeong) site in the whole region of Gungchon-ri, Munmak-eub, Wonju-si, Gangwon-do, which will accommodate a specialized flower garden equipped with research, distribution, transportation, and export function; cultural space with exhibition, experience, and tourism function; and recreational and leisure facilities.
For this, Wonju City will receive permission and approval for the designation of the tourism complex by next year, and carry out site renovation in earnest to finish the first stage development by 2017.
