POSCO DX announced on the 11th that it has signed a cooperation with Exotec, a French unicorn company that supplies logistics automation robots and systems.

POSCO DX's Pangyo office building was signed by POSCO DX President Jung Duk-kyoon, Suk Jae-ho, head of logistics automation business, Exotec's Romain Moulin, CEO Ryu Tatewaki, head of Exotec's Japanese branch.

Through this partnership, the two companies decided to cooperate comprehensively to target domestic and foreign logistics automation markets. In particular, it plans to supply "Skypod," an automatic logistics robot produced by Exotec, to the domestic market by applying it to an integrated logistics warehouse project promoted by POSCO DX. POSCO DX is expected to become even more competitive in related fields as it secures the right to supply Exotec's systems for the second time in Asia after Japan.

Exotec is a unicorn company that supplies "Skypod," a robot that automatically transports, stores, searches, and loads goods in logistics warehouses, and has 81 references in the U.S., Europe, and Japan until 22 years after its establishment in 2015.

Exotec's "Skypod" consists of a low-floor unmanned transport system (AGV) such as Amazon KIVA and an autonomous mobile robot (AMR) that combines cube-type automatic loading functions. It is designed to be able to store up to 12m high by overcoming the height limit of the rack, which is a disadvantage of the existing unmanned transport system, and has excellent space utilization. In particular, the advantage is that it has up to five times more throughput and scalability compared to existing products as it can additionally increase the number of vertical autonomous robots in charge of picking/transfer/loading.

Suk Jae-ho, head of the logistics automation business at POSCO DX, said, "Through this cooperation, we plan to target the logistics automation market as the No. 1 supplier of skypod systems more specialized in fulfillment centers."

"We are very surprised by the huge scale of the Hanjin Shipping Daejeon Mega Hub site being built by POSCO DX, and we expect the two companies to expand their participation in the Korean logistics automation market by synergy based on the nation's largest mega hub logistics automation system." said Gilles Baulard, vice president of Asia-Pacific.

Meanwhile, POSCO DX has been pushing for a project to establish and operate a baggage management system (BHS) that manages the carriers of travelers using Incheon International Airport (total length of 184 kilometers). Using these know-how, we are promoting smart logistics projects such as the establishment of an integrated logistics center and a fulfillment center, such as the construction of a smart mega hub terminal in Daejeon (about 120 billion won), one of the largest in Korea.
